Immune function
Emerging evidenceEvaluation of immune modulation by β-glucan from Ganoderma lucidum: a randomized controlled trial
Foods (peer-reviewed RCT) · Foods, 2023
- Species
- Humans
- Design
- Randomized controlled trial
- Sample
- Healthy adults, placebo-controlled
What it found
Reishi β-glucan produced statistically significant shifts in CD3⁺, CD4⁺, and CD8⁺ lymphocyte subsets and in natural-killer cells relative to placebo.
Why it matters
Human, randomized, and placebo-controlled — but a single trial with intermediate biomarker endpoints. Promising, and still emerging. That distinction is the whole point of the badges.
How much weight this carries
Human trials exist but are mixed or early-stage; the mechanism is well characterized.
Compounds in this study
- Reishi (Ganoderma)
A calming, balancing immune mushroom.
