What it found
Establishes a large, open, longitudinal cohort of pet dogs — with owner surveys, veterinary records, and biospecimens — designed to identify the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle determinants of healthy canine aging.
Why it matters
Dogs share our homes, our air, our floors, and our sofas, and they age five to ten times faster than we do. That makes them the best available model for human aging — and it means aging research finally has a cohort worth the name.

Human trials exist but are mixed or early-stage; the mechanism is well characterized.
