What it found
Chronic oral rapamycin in a non-human primate was tolerated without the severe metabolic disruption — notably insulin resistance — that had been feared based on high-dose rodent and transplant data.
Why it matters
It closed the biggest safety question standing between rodent lifespan data and dosing a beloved companion animal: does chronic rapamycin wreck metabolism in a long-lived primate? Largely, no.
